Earlier this year, predictions were rife that the North Pole could melt entirely in 2008. Instead, the Arctic ice saw a substantial recovery. Bill Chapman, a researcher with the UIUC's Arctic Center, tells DailyTech this was due in part to colder temperatures in the region.
Whoa, slow down there, Egghead! So what you're saying is that water exposed to colder temperatures froze? Imagine! No doubt one of the warmening enthusiasts will stop by shortly to explain why colder temperatures and more ice is somehow the product of global warming. With a straight face, even.

I'm not clear on the direct correlation, admittedly, but I know that the claim is already out there... that global warming will cause unexpected cold weather disasters as well as warm. Hurricanes and blizzards and heat waves, oh my!
Just last week, my step-mother-in-law in Las Vegas blamed their unusual snowfall on global warming.
I will have to poke around to see how warming causes snow. I'm sure it's a whole chain reaction... like how flying people all over the world to play rock music will fix the atmosphere.
It's the economy, I mean, thermohaline circulation, stupid.
LOL, I love George Carlins' take on it, he says something like: The Earth has survived Earthquakes, Meteors, Ice Ages, etc. etc..... you think that Planet Earth is afraid of a PLASTIC CUP??
I'm all for keeping our own personal space clean. We could be reducing, reusing, and leaving less of a footprint. But we should be doing it because it 'might' save US, not because it will save the planet.
LOL the 'planet' will be just fine no matter what 'we' do.
